Brandon Bay turned on the goods on Monday. Local windurfers Niall, Rob of kerrysailcompany and Jamie of JamieKnowWatersports scored Mossies at it's best..

Rob (above)

"Mossies was as good as it gets.. 4.2, side off and solid mast high race track for 400+m through the rocks.. JamieKnox was cleaned up by a house size tube (genuine) off the end of garywilliam and broke his uj.. He had to SWIM to dumps.. anyone who knows Brandon Bay knows how far that is.. Like a good bunch of blokes, me and Niall kept an eye on him between waves!"

"Stunning day loads of sun, cold but not too bad, around 10 out most of who found it hard going I think. When mossies is cross off it is not a easy place to sail. If you're off the peek there is nothing, if your in the right place it is one magic wall that goes on and on. If you're under the peek you in trouble. As Jamie found out, I was 15 ft upwind of him going out near Garry william when a set of 3 huge waves came though. I got to look into a car size tube. And jamie got worked"

All-time Tiree on the reef

October 17th saw some of the biggest waves to hit Tiree for 2 years -18ft at 16secs!!

John Skye, Ben Proffitt, Phil Horrocks, Timo Mullen, James Cox, Rich Potter, Chris Audsley, Adam Lewis, John Hibbard and many others took on the mast high plus monsters and ripped them to bits. The standouts being Skyeboy and Hozza for his huge (15ft clear of a 15ft wave?!) aerial, scoring the best of it early on.

Towards the end of the session things got a bit sketchy, with innocent looking logo high lumps suddenly mutating into nasty mast high bombs of doom as the tide dropped. A surf later in the week revealing a car sized boulder as the culprit, eeeek!

Thanks to JC for these pics.

Wavejam 4 in August!
Thursday, 14 August 2008 18:14

Wavejam 4 went down at Rosneigr at the weekend, with sailors starting the day on 3.5's in the rain. The wind steadily backed from southerly to south west easing slightly to 5.3 - 5.7, accompanied by a dense sea fog by the afternoon -very strange! Then 4.0 to 4.7 weather and sunny on Sunday with head high waves, not bad for summer! We had two of Britain's best sailors in attendance, Rossi locals and PWA rippers Ben Proffitt and Phil Horrocks, accompanied by the usual Rossi pro crew and a few not so local. Also in attendance were a complement of skilled amateurs, travelling from as far as the South Coast, Pembrokeshire, and Scotland!

Most outstanding sailor for the weekend went to Phil, for throwing down pushloop forward attempts, he's dialling 'em in, and will no doubt be nailing them soon! The 'Power hour' session laid on for the cameras on Sunday was too close to call for the Pros, with Phil and Ben proving to be equally impressive. For the amateurs, there were three standouts, Scotty McDowell, Ian Gibson & Lewis Merrony. Good effort guys!

Full article on the weekends happenings coming to the printed mag soon.

Thanks go out to Bucky and Funsport for their support and prize donations for the Amateurs.

We have trophies!!

As if you needed any more incentives to turn up to a WAVEJAM than the wind and waves, we now have trophies too! How cool would one of those be on the mantle piece..
